We spent a very chilled Saturday evening in the company of Tess (and Minstrel) – at first we enjoyed the late afternoon sun and a very nice tomato pasta recipe (from Jamie’s Dinners) and then we sat for quite a time around the fire when it cooled down a little. Although it was a lovely evening.
As the night wore on we became peckish and I thought I’d try a couple of firsts on the fire – firstly I cooked Canneloni in the embers, although the intense heat broke one of Julie’s favourite oven proof dishes! And these dishes can withstand 250 degrees heat! We transferred to a baking tray and enjoyed the Canneloni, piping hot and cooked in half the time of the oven, 15 mins.
Next up was a baked potato which took an hour to cook through, although it was enormous. served with a few wedges of unsalted butter it was delish.
