Perfect way to kick off the weekend

Smoked rashers of streaky bacon fried (not grilled, for heavens sake) in rapeseed oil then served between two slices of the whitest bread I could find.

A fried free range egg was added – gilding the lily I realise, but hey it’s Saturday – and the breakfast holy trinity was completed with lashings of brown sauce, HP, of course.

PS – Guilty bacon sandwich secret number one – I fried one of the halves of the sandwich in the bacon fat and it transforms the meal. Try it.

  1. Interested to see you are using rapeseed oil – we use Hillfarm Oil from Suffolk which is delicious. Some can be a bit greasy. You can get it in Waitrose.
