I love this time of year – Asparagus time. It seems like the shortest season of all, blink and you’ll miss it. It runs now until the end of June which sounds like a long time but obviously isn’t in Asparagus land.
Anyway, we had a run out to Sand Hutton (just outside York) and bought a couple of fat bundles of green joy. They had some of the purple sprouting variety too. So we decided to follow NIgel Slater’s recipe from the Observer yesterday – melted Camembert on cooked spears. Mmm.
