In true J&L ‘better late than never’ style, it’s time to share some experiences and update our posts. The above pictures were taken on my camera phone at Jamie Oliver’s ‘Fifteen’ at Watergate bay in Cornwall. We were invited to a wedding during the last week of May and actually made our reservation for Fifteen at New Year on our last visit. Maybe booking 5 months in advance helps to get a good table but we were sat next to the open terraced windows looking directly out onto the beach and Watergate Bay complete with surfers on a hot spring evening. So far position, view and weather fantastic can the food complete the evening?
With the help of our ‘souvenir’ evening tasting menu here’s our menu choices ….
To get you started …..
Smashed peas, broad beans and pecorino shaving. Crostini of duck liver pate.
Insalata of char grilled artichoke and asparagus with gooey burrata, rocket, lemon and thyme dressing.
Cape Cornwall lobster risotto with Amalfi lemon, parsley, agretti, chilli and fennel seed pangrattato.
Crispy fillet of line caught sea bass, first of Rob’s potatoes. St Enodoc asparagus and black olive salsa.
The most amazing panna cotta, Cornish strawberries and the lightest shortcake.
Caffe e Cioccolatini ….. Coffee and choccie treats.
The preparation, presentation, and quality of all the dishes was of the highest standard and nothing disappointed. A mention also goes to the fact 80% of the produce is sourced in Cornwall. Jamie Oliver’s fifteen foundation is a great cause and should be supported. The whole experience of top food, location and good weather all came together to provide a memorable evening and we can’t wait to return. Check out the Fifteen Cornwall web site for more info.
