There’s only one type of food to eat on bonfire night. Pork pie and mushy peas. Nothing else will do it for me. The pie has to warmed in the oven until it’s piping hot and the peas are just fine from a tin (although I do like the ones that you soak overnight, but they are a faff) and the crowning glory has to be the onions in vinegar (red wine, not malt for this sophisticate).
After consuming said pies, we wandered on to Dawn and Gurdev’s for an impromptu firework extravaganza courtesy of Jenny and Rob. We sat around the fire for a while whilst the girls lit some psarklers and drew their names in the air as is the tradition round these parts!
