Been a while but we are back.
Based under the arches in Granary Wharf, Leeds, serving authentic Italian food and drink is VINeataly, for a Tuesday evening it was reasonably lively…We had a wander around a two storey space with the upstairs being more lounge style and downstairs cafe bar style and opted for downstairs in the window. Smart continental chic is the order of the day.
Front of house, Greg showed us the latest in wine dispensing gadgetry, the first outside London and provided us with a pre paid card so we could try it out. It houses 3 white wines, 3 reds, 1 rose and 1 fine wine all of which can be sampled for a charge…a great idea for when the place is packed as saves you queuing at the bar…
Food wise we ordered 2 starter plates, 1 Italian ham and cheese antipasto and a mixed bruschetta, you would have to be very hungry to tackle a main so suggest 1 between 2…both platters were very well presented and tasty. For mains I had Grilled Tiger Prawns with garlic, very tasty but not quite on a par with Mattia’s other establishment Diva Italiana in Pudsey, but VINeataly is more of a cafe bar more than a full blown restaurant.. G had thick sliced Italian ham with roast potatoes and mustard mayo which in his words was the ” gammon” he has ever had. To finish we had an Italian cheese plate, ok but would have benefited from having a soft blue such as Dolcelatte. Food cost approx £40, wine on average £6 a glass…Cool city centre experience with matching prices..will be special to sit outside in the fabulous Granary Wharf space…..
Roll on summer..
